Wynwood Walls Fashion

Where do you go when you are a hipster or artist (or anyone for that matter) in search for inspiration? Why, the Wynwood Walls! Us Miamians called it the best Miamibience experience in town. What is it you ask? Well, literally, its this district near the downtown Miami area where live music, food trucks, and the best fashion surrounds every wall covered in lively art, graffiti, or the most beautiful murals you’ll find. Probably in the world. Even if you’re not a art enthusiast (as am I) you’ll find that this is like a Wonderland full of intricate art at every corner.

Now when I say best everything I ALSO mean food. When my sister and I trecked to our hidden Miami spot we ate at one of our favorite Italian restaurants in the city: Joey’s. The pasta and the ambiance there is just like a New York Soho style restaurant with all the right people and all the right FOOD!

If you want a better look at what Wynwood is follow my cousin’s Tumblr where he showcases the essence of what the walls are with his magnificent photography.

Onward toward the FASHION: Now this day my sister and I dressed our most hipster and Soho style we could. Yet Soho, it actually encompassed what Wynwood is. This up-and-coming area, especially after Miami’s Art Basel, bustles with the best-dressed Miamians in town. No tourists here. Even the furniture stores are boho chic. Clean cut, sophisticated, with a twist of hippie style.

My sister, Isa, wore a skull scarf from Zara that doesn’t seem to goth at all. Pair it with a jean vest from J Crew and a BP white top it will pop the art as your background. The leggings are also *drumroll please* from J Crew and the combat boots from Steve Madden. Although a hot day, combat boots are the perfect shoe to walk around in either hot or cold weather. As long as you know what to pair it with and especially remember that they are a fashion statement in itself. Her accessories are found in our hidden South Miami treasure of Miss Pepper. Owned and managed by two alumni from our former high school.

Because of our elaborate backdrop today, I decided to be pretty simple with the accessories. Also since I had two fashion statements in my outfit I had to keep it pretty toned down. Yet, this outfit still has the essence of what hipsters stand for. Starting with my very own Ray Ban aviators I needed for a sunny day. My jacket is probably the colossal statement of the outfit that is actually my mom’s. She found it in a boutique called Lulu at Dadeland Mall located much more south of the walls. My ripped jeans (paired with black tights under) are True Religion jeans that I got a while back for a steal at Sawgrass Mills Mall. The combat boots, like my sister, are from Steve Madden that are incredibly priced for such a GREAT shoe. They’re versatile and of course, I plan to take them up north to rock in Boston in the fall.

Visit Wynwood Walls when you get the chance. Trust me! Amazing view. Decadent food. Miami nightlife (Gavanna Miami) It’s an international feel in a quaint Miami niche.

Lincoln Road Fashion

So this morning my younger sister, Isa, and I decided to go on a little escapade to Lincoln Road located on Miami Beach. We saw that it would rain but we said “fuck it!”. (We were craving Shake Shack). So the usual fashionista she is, and I wish I was, we slipped on some of our best outfits fit for the 305 Miami Beach fashion. Sunglasses and all. I’ll add some pictures later. Blasting some EDM down A1A made for the start of a perfect day with surprisingly beautiful Miami sunshine. After our Shake Shack burger (highly recommended) we hit our favorite stores to find some fashion for our trip to London, Paris, and Provence coming up in June after she graduates from high school.

We opted for Anthropologie where the linens and military jackets have a classy touch to a hipster flaire. Once we finished buying a jacket, knit top, and gorgeous statement necklace we decided to lure ourselves in heaven: J Crew. We couldn’t help watching the simple yet sophisticated dresses, tops, and of course, SHOES! We also found this beautiful cork clutch that one of us is bound to order online on of these days. Fortunately, on Lincoln Road, they have J Crew’s sister store: Madewell. We noticed it was a little pricier than our usual buys but let me tell you the bathing suits are unbelievably BEAUTIFUL! And shapes and contours so well to a petite body or even full-figured. We recommend American Apparel that is right next door but the simple, overpriced clothing was not in our mental capacity right now.

This is me: Gaby Yidi. I decided to go for a more hipster style today since it was just the two of us. During the afternoon. I am wearing a J Crew jean vest with an Urban Outfitters muscle tee. Its on sale now and I absolutely love that it has the seven deadly sins written in French. My shorts are 3” J Crew chinos. A classic for any J Crew lover. And of course, I had to pair my outfit with my white Converse low top. I’m looking into buying high tops but my legs seem too petite for them. Next to me is my prized possession: my Marc Jacobs bag. I carry it EVERYWHERE! And of course, how could I forget my J Crew iPhone anchor case! (well, stolen from my sister) BTW the glasses are Ray Ban look-a-likes bought online on Amazon for a whooping $4!!!! Accessories include a ring I bought in Mykonos, Greece and my Brazilian bracelets.

Isa, my born-to-style fashionista wanted to opt for color block technology in action. Her top is from Urban Outfitters that seems like a neon green. Kind of Ultra style remnants. For her shorts she also wore 3” J Crew chinos that, as you can see, are perfect with any outfit day or night. Her unbelievably perfect coral clutch was actually bought in a boutique in South Miami. These boutiques are a must go-to while on a trip in Miami. Oxfords are from Steve Madden that get comfier once you have worn them in. The coral cuff that is my favorite of all her accessories was surprisingly bought at BCBG Generation located in the Nordstrom Accessories station. Her glasses are actually REAL Ray Ban aviators. She hates faking those.

What a lovely day to fashion. This mirrored clear background shows both of our outfits. (And Isa’s mustache iPhone case). Surrounded by tourists (that we seemed like), these outfits are fit for a perfect day in Miami Beach, Boston, or Savannah. Just pair my outfit with a jean jacket or wear Isa’s outfit with a green color block blazer or even a military jacket. Remember to hit Serendipity while you are at Lincoln Road. You’ll laugh up a storm with the melting sundaes. We got the deep fried Cookies n Creme sundae. Trust me. Indulgence at its best!

Deep Fried Cookies n Creme Sundae from Serendipity (sorry I HAD to tempt you guys)
